Georgia
It is located in North America, southeast of the United States, and is surrounded by: Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Appalachian Plateau
This is the smallest region of all. It is located in the northwestern corner of the state. There are plateaus as well as valleys in this area.
Valley and Ridge
This area lies between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Appalachian Plateau. It has several mountain ridges and valleys created between them.
Blue Ridge
It is located in the northeastern part of the state. Georgia's highest and largest mountains are here. The first gold rush in the United States took place here in 1828.
Piedmont
It is the most populated region of the state. It is largely made up of gently sloping hills. The Piedmont region starts in the mountain foothills in North Georgia and goes to the central part of the state.
Coastal Plain
It is the largest region of the state. There are 2 parts: the Inner and Outer Coastal Plain. It begins at the Fall Line and extends south to Georgia's border with Florida and east to the Atlantic Ocean.
