Fall Line
It is located where the Piedmont meets the Coastal Plain. It divides Georgia's sources of water. Many cities along the fall line were places where cargo was transferred from transportation.
Okefenokee Swamp
It is the second largest freshwater swamp in the United States. It is 700 square miles of black water swamp. It s home to more than 1,000 types of plants and animals.
Appalachian Mountains
Part of the southern part of the Appalachian Mountain chain lies within the Blue Ridge Region. Mining put this area on the map. It is about 1,500 miles in length.
Chattahoochee River
It has carried cotton, delivered power to textile mills, moved freight, furnished hydroelectric power, and provided drinking water to Georgians for generations. It is a major transportation artery and one of Georgia's interior. It flows from northern Georgia to the Gulf of Mexico.
Savannah River
It's growth is due in large part to the Savannah River, which transports goods. It runs along the order with South Carolina
Barrier Islands
They are a chain of islands on Georgia's coast. Forts were built here to protect Georgia's coast. They are a popular tourist attraction.
